Daniel is a Senior Solicitor in our Planning and Environment team. He advises on both non-contentious and contentious planning and environment matters.
Daniel has experience in energy consenting, EIA, planning agreements, compulsory purchase, environmental liability, disputes and ad hoc compliance matters. He has acted for clients across a wide range of sectors and assets, including residential, energy, local government, urban development, rural and industrial.
He also has experience of judicial review, advising on court procedure and potential outcomes.
- Advising onshore wind developers on consenting strategy and EIA matters in relation to planning applications for onshore wind farms.
- Advising an energy company on the negotiation and drafting of an interface agreement in respect of protection of assets affected an electricity transmission network reinforcement project.
- Advising a social landlord on planning and environmental matters for its acquisition of several affordable housing sites across Scotland.
- Acting as part of a team to advise offshore wind developers on scoping and EIA matters.
- Advising an energy company on planning and environmental matters associated with its acquisition of a battery storage project, including advising on the terms of the Section 36 Consent and related compliance issues.
- Advising a receivership on the planning aspects of a development site disposal in England, including negotiating a planning agreement with the local authority to reflect phasing of the development and the associated infrastructure levy liability.
- Advising an industry body on the regulatory regimes for control of underwater noise across offshore wind and oil & gas.
- Advising individuals, developers, operators and funders on compliance with Scottish and UK environmental law and guidance, including in terms of the EIA Regulations, Habitats Regulations, PPC Regulations, Controlled Activities Regulations and Environmental Protection Act.
